VOLUNTEER
POSITIONS |
Over 50 Volunteers bring their enthusiasm and skill to ensure that a high level of services are provided to our Carers. We value our volunteers, who play an important role in the life of CS&RC. Volunteers actively involve Carers and the community in the mission and activities of CS&RC. Our volunteers bring energy, experience and skills to supporting the work of staff and they assist CS&RC in maintaining its high standards of service to Carers and the community. Our Volunteers’ contribution of time and dedication is vital to the CS&RC success. A volunteer is a member of the community who provides a service, which is of benefit to the community, without expectation of monetary reward. Volunteers undertake activities that ‘add to’ but do not replace the services provided by paid staff. (CS&RC support the Definitions & Principles of Volunteering as set down by Volunteering Australia). All volunteer staff of CS&RC are provided with full induction and a training program to develop their skills. Volunteers are also supported by the Coordinator of Volunteer Programs. Our volunteers are allocated roles that are clearly outlined by Volunteer Position Descriptions, with clear guidelines for required tasks. |

Most volunteer positions require the applicant to agree and undertake a Police Check due to the vulnerable groups CS&RC support. You will be advised at the time of your interview if you are required to undergo a police check and the process involved. Potential volunteers are requested to nominate two referees on their application so that experience, suitability etc can be confirmed.
Once the relevant checks have been
undertaken and the volunteer is accepted to undertake a position,
training specific to the role will commence with one of our experienced
volunteers or staff. After the volunteer has finished their training the
Coordinator of Volunteer Programs will discuss the training and how
things are going before the volunteer is placed in their role.

Benefits and Rewards of Volunteering at the Carer Support & Respite Centre
There are many rewards for those contemplating becoming a volunteer at CS&RC. For most of our volunteers it is about the contact that they make with our carers and community and the opportunity to develop new skills as well as building confidence and new networks. CS&RC agree that best practice is providing recognition to the contribution and effort made by our volunteers.
Benefits include working in a friendly and supportive environment, opportunity to attend Carer activities and functions, reimbursement of out of pocket expenses, annual events that recognise the contribution made by our team of volunteers, training and development opportunities and full insurance cover while performing an approved volunteer duty.
