The Mental Health Respite
Program provides alternative or supplementary respite options for Carers
of people with a mental illness and/or intellectual disability. Respite
can be in or out of home and is tailored to individual needs and
circumstances. Respite through The Mental Health Respite Program is
available for two priority groups. The first group is older Carers (55
years plus) who assist and support a child who has a mental illness
or/and intellectual disability. These Carers can access planned and
emergency respite. Secondly, emergency respite is available for all
Carers of all ages who assist and support people with a mental illness
or/and intellectual disability. Julie Milburn, is the Intellectual
Disability and Dual Diagnosis Respite Coordinator and Louise Fuller is
