Who speaks a language other than English

Carer Support has a range of options to assist Carers in the community who speak a language other than English. The term you may often hear is Culturally and Linguistically Diverse, or CALD. Trying to access services can be very difficult for Carers who don’t speak English. Here’s how we can help.

Language Assistance

We are funded to provide an interpreter to help you find information about services available to you. When you call our information line, the Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Team can arrange for an interpreter to translate for you.
When arranging for a respite worker to come into your home, you can request a worker who speaks your language.
Speak with the Commonwealth Respite and Carelink team on 1800 052 222 or email them here about these services. They can also provide Carer advice sheets in 15 different languages which can be sent to you at no charge.

Carer Groups

Many Carers also find it beneficial to share their personal Caring experiences with others through meeting together. Carers learn useful information about available services from both the organisation and each other.

Italian Carers Group

Meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 30 Wood St Ascot Park from 10.30am to 1.00pm.
Please contact Patrizia Kadis on 8397 0200 for more information.
