Are you caring for an elderly relative or friend with dementia, or who is frail? Many Carers experience stress throughout this period of time as they worry for their person’s safety, arrange accommodation or medical requirements and sometimes try cope with the changes in the person’s behaviour. There are often big decisions that need to be made during this time and Carers usually have to manage these stresses around work and family commitments.
Respite
Short Term respite may be useful to you if permanent accommodation arrangements have been planned but a bed is required for the ‘gap’ period of time. If you feel you need a break or would like to attend one of Carer Support’s activities you can use Occasional respite.
Information
The Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Team can tell you how to book an Aged Care Assessment (ACAT) and provide advice on what various services can help you.
Support
While you are providing care for someone else, we want to focus on you and your needs. We arrange low cost trips, events and activities that you can enjoy by yourself, or sometimes bring the person you care for if you like. We provide advice, phone support and short courses to provide you with useful information relevant to your caring circumstances.
