Your client’s Carer may need help too
Almost everyone prefers to stay at home as long as they can. You can help your client avoid hospital or an early placement in a residential facility by linking their Carer with real and practical support.
When Carers have support it helps both them and the person they care for. That’s why it’s important to pay attention to Carers’ needs too.
Carer Support provides services to Carers in the South and East Metropolitan areas of Adelaide, such as:
Respite
Short term, occasional and emergency respite are available
Information
Help with navigating available services is available to Carers, the broader community and community services
Support
Activities and outings, phone counselling and home visits, education workshops and support groups with other Carers
How do I know if my client has a Carer?
Carers do not receive a salary for looking after the person they care for. They may be receiving a Carer’s Allowance or Carer’s Payment from Centrelink but this is not always the case.
If a person is caring for a family member, friend or neighbour
- with an intellectual disability
- with a physical disability
- who is frail-aged or has dementia
- with a mental illness
- with a chronic physical illness
- who needs palliative care
then he or she is a Carer and we are here to support them.
