My parents are in
their mid 80’s .Over the past month my father has been informed that
he will need to start dialysis and my mother has been diagnosed with
mouth and throat cancer.
I wanted to let you
know how delighted I was to be put onto your service by the social
worker at RAH. Every contact I have made from the initial 1800 call
through to Karyn Baker in Adelaide has left me feeling very hopeful
that I will be able to successfully coordinate services for my
parents so that they can stay within their own home.
Every person I have
spoken to has been extremely well informed and genuinely empathic.
I was able to talk to
my parents today with an assurance that there are a range of
services available to help them. Now that I have the information I
can put a care plan together, which my parents can approve and talk
over with their doctors.
“The first time we arrived for Saturday Club, I was really apprehensive.
(Coordinator) met me in the car park which was very reassuring. We were
escorted into the venue and I was invited to stay for the first hour
until (caree) settled. He loved the music, loved the staff. They let
(caree) play the piano. They understood he needed to do his own thing.
The staff scaled down the other activities (as his skills declined). The
staff reported changes in (caree). I was given appropriate feedback and
this helped ease me into the next stage (permanent care)”.
"Thank
you so much the Carer that came out last week. It was on short notice
and in a matter of days everything was taken care of – the respite
worker was very helpful and understanding. It was a relief to know that
mum was safe and looked after while we were away on holidays"
